DREAMS 101
The Beginning, Part I
Your fascination with dreams is not new; in fact, since the dawn of time, mankind has always sought the meaning of their dreams and nightmares. Dreams have always puzzled and perplexed, nightmares continue to terrify and torment, and some dreams spark ideas and inspiration to create inventions and discoveries that affect all of our lives and change the history of the world.
From the earliest of times, every tribe, every culture in the world has had their dream interpreters to translate dream mysteries into waking meaning. The basic belief among all of our archaic ancestors was that dreams were messages from the gods. Many cultures named their gods who were “in charge” of dream messages and their delivery. The ancient Assyrians and Babylonians had An-Za-Oar as their god of dreams.
The ancient Greeks had a fascinating “chain of command” for their dream deliveries. Zeus, the father of the gods, was assisted by Hypnos, the god of sleep. His son, Morpheus, the god of dreams, sent revelations, warnings, and prophesies to Hermes, the winged messenger, whose job it was to deliver the dream communications.
The recorded history of the Roman and Greek civilizations reflects the reverence and reliance that these ancient people placed on their dreams. Prior to these two enlightened cultures, the most ancient and primitive cultures of the world held the same universal beliefs about dreams and their messages: that they were sent for the people to understand the will of the gods and to receive their sacred messages.
Cave people dreamed, Greek royalty dreamed, Roman soldiers dreamed, and today, you dream. Where did they go for their messages? Where do you go for yours? Be prepared to learn! Stay Tuned…
